Our Services

We provide:
  • Out-patient physiotherapy services for orthopaedic and neurological problems
  • Home/retirement home and long-term care home physiotherapy visits for orthopaedic or neurological problems
  • Assessment of eligibility for the funding of walkers through the Assistive Devices Programme (ADP)

Our Goals

As physiotherapists we focus first and foremost on resolving pain, stabilizing an injury or condition and preventing it from getting worse. Then we focus on restoring strength, movement and function as much as possible. Our ultimate goal is to enable our patients to manage their own physical well-being independently.

We specialize in treating:
  • acute pain caused by pinched nerves, such as sciatica
  • chronic pain due to conditions such as headaches, arthritis, fibromyalgia and Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (R.S.D.) or Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (C.R.P.S.)
  • spinal and peripheral musculoskeletal conditions such as osteoarthritis, tendonitis and bursitis
  • sports injuries such as sprains, strains and bruises
  • repetitive strain injuries (sports, work or posture related)
  • motor vehicle accident injuries such as whiplash
  • workplace injuries (W.S.I.B.)
  • muscular weakness or stiffness of joints due to surgery or wearing a cast
  • deconditioned muscles due to chronic pain or sedentary lifestyle
  • jaw pain (T.M.J. dysfunction)
  • positional vertigo
  • balance problems
  • facial nerve injuries
  • chronic non-healing wounds
  • post breast cancer treatment problems

Beginning treatment

The sooner the treatment of an injury or condition begins, the better. Early intervention prevents a condition from becoming chronic, keeps muscle and other soft tissue structures from weakening through disuse, speeds healing and, above all, increases the chances of full recovery.

Our sessions involve:
  • doing a comprehensive assessment of the problem, including a history and a physical examination
  • designing and implementing a treatment plan which meets each patient’s needs and takes lifestyle and treatment goals into account
  • modifying this plan regularly in response to patient input and our reassessments of progress
  • educating the patient about his or her condition or injury and suggesting strategies for maintaining well-being once treatment ends

Treatment might include:
  • manual therapy or manipulation to mobilize stiff joints, muscles and other connective tissues
  • modalities (Transcutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulation/TENS, electrical muscle stimulation, short-wave diathermy and ultrasound) to control pain, resolve inflammation and heal wounds
  • laser therapy that uses light energy to control pain, resolve inflammation and heal wounds
  • traction (cervical and lumbar) to alleviate neck and low back pain and to loosen stiff joints
  • anatomical acupuncture to control pain and inflammation
  • on-site exercises with one-on-one supervision to stretch and strengthen muscles, mobilize joints, promote core stability, improve balance and resolve vertigo
  • Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) to alleviate chronic neuropathic pain
  • soft tissue mobilization, trigger point work and therapeutic massage
